Family emergency
The Youth Emergency Preparedness Council (YEPC) helps youth develop family emergency plans, including communication strategies, meeting points, and safety procedures, so everyone knows what to do during a crisis. Youth are encouraged to talk to their families about different emergency scenarios and create action plans together. YEPC also promotes the importance of having emergency contacts and practicing the plan regularly to stay prepared.
Personal Emergency
YEPC empowers youth to recognize and respond to personal emergencies, such as accidents or medical issues, by teaching basic safety skills, first aid, and how to seek help when needed. Members learn how to stay calm under pressure and make quick, safe decisions. The program also builds confidence by simulating real-life scenarios to practice response techniques.
How to Prepare
YEPC educates youth on how to prepare for emergencies by creating emergency kits, practicing drills, and understanding local hazards to stay ready and resilient in any situation. It encourages youth to stay informed through alerts and community updates. The program also fosters leadership by giving members roles in organizing preparedness events and helping others learn how to stay safe.
